Zwift is a pretty cool biking simulator

Yesterday, I was fooling around on Twitch, and fell onto a stream of a game called Swift.
The stream had around 20k people watching some guy biking in front of his computer. For some reason, I was hooked and kept watching.

What's Swift?

Well, it's what looks like a new gen of sport simulators. He had captors set up on his bike, and he could switch gears, while his setup was recording his effort, and showing it on screen while he was doing the Giro, the Italian biking tour for those that don't know much about it. He managed to bike over 35 kilometers, pushed by his chat and by all the incentives there are on the game to keep you going, stats, and detailed stuff like sprinting, your current rank, and bonuses you can get, that have a small impact on your speed.

It's suprisingly pretty fun

Players could communicate by sending messages to the players close to them, upvotes to encourage them to keep going, or stay close to each others to provide each other some physical and mental help.

What's great about it, is that it's very easy to track your improvements, and to even bike with your mates to make sure you're not alone and stay motivated.

You can also of course stop whenever you want and already be at home, and that's great, that way you do not have to worry about coming back to your place when you go out biking.

There are multiple environments, different rankings, races, all sort of stuff you can try out. It's a video game after all, and it seems great for someone that lacks motivation.

Here's a French video explaining how it works, put the subtitles on, and watch how it works !

Be careful

Still, as usual, make sure you are doing it in a safe environment, don't push yourself too hard, stay hydrated, and make sure the room you are doing it in has enough air, which is the main drawback, staying cool is harder in a closed room.

Is it the future of video games?

No, of course not, but it's always interesting to see some cool tech being adapted to a new generation of consumers, and used to create interesting concepts. I'm really looking forward to similar projects, and wish all the best to Zwift. It's not for everyone of course, but damn I really want to try it.

As usual, this was Tisba, follow me on social media, check my other articles, comment if you know other games like this that I could take a look at. Thanks for reading me, and until next time,

Tisba out !
