If you can read, you probably guessed what game I'm talking about. It is Ironsight, the infamous Call Of Duty rip-off.
Why would I recommand you to play a game that's such a blatant rip-off? Well, it's very simple, almost everything call of duty does, Ironsight does the same, sometimes better, for free.
For free you mean?
Yeah, you heard that right, I am not being paid for this, but it is true, Ironsight is a free game, with no freemium feature. Like every free to play, you can buy stuff for real money, including cosmetics and weapons, but I played for about 10 hours and managed to buy myself a few weapons without any problem, so there is no pay to win mechanic involved.
What's similar?
Well, ironsight has small maps, fast kills, same art style, and the same overall feel, especially with the loadouts and killstreaks (we will get to that later). The game feels very casual, it for sure does not have the intensity of a cs go or a rainbow 6, death is almost never too punishing, apart from 1 game mode. Weapons do a lot of damages, grenade are mostly pretty weak, and you need to watch your back because ennemies are everywhere.
What's better?
The killstreak system here is revamped, you do not lose it when you die, instead every time you complete an objective or get a kill, you will gather points that allow you to unlock "killstreaks" that allow you to either wreck havoc among your ennemies, using an exploding spider or a rocket launcher, or even a (very frustrating) drone strike, or support your team with recon drones, anti aerial defense, or map jammer. The game, for a free to play, feels extremely polished, in the menus as in game.
Still, it's far from perfect.
The game is quick fun. You jump in, shoot at people, gain currency, buy upgrades, weapons, and go back in. If you have played online games the last few years, then you know that there has to be a ranked mode right? This is where the game seems to be confused on what it is. The only gamemode I managed to get in the ranked queue was search and destroy, a game mode with a system of rounds, if you die, you're dead for the round. The issue I have with that, is that the fun of this game resides in the fast paced gameplay, going in recklessly, trying some flanks and getting 10 kills a minute. This gamemode, supposed to be a more serious one since it's ranked, feels far from fun. You need to be cautious is the way of a CSGO or a Rainbow 6, if you do not want to spend the rest of the game watching your teammates play. Why not just put team deathmatch as the main ranked gamemode, or even a solo deathmatch, to showoff your skills? Search and destroy feels forced, like if they thought "so we've got a cod clone, but tactical shooters are popular right now"
I get what they tried to do, but it just doesn't fit this game, r6 and CS are doing this better, just focus on what you're doing well and improve on it !
To conclude this, you should give this game a try, with a few friends or not, and have a quick fun time, it's worth it.
