Did you deserve getting banned ?

I was a League of Legends player for about 5 years, from 2012 from 2017 and never got banned, so I am not speaking from my experience, but from the ones around me. People very often get banned from league of legends, or chat restricted for inflammatory comments towards their teammates.

This kind of behaviour are very often triggered by one simple thing, in league of legends, you get mached with 4 other players randomly, unless you are playing with friends, then it's another story, but friends usually don't report each others, so I won't be taking that into account.

The fact that you get matched with 4 randoms persons makes it hard to communicate most of the time, with the language barrier, the distance between you, and the differences in playstyles. You need to figure out what they want to do, and act accordingly.
It often leads to misinterpretation, misunderstanding, and of course, trashtalking. If someone from your team performs poorly, you will be frustrated, and it makes sense that you are, considering you didn't ask to play with this specific player, and you are stuck with him for at least 20 minutes, which can feel really long if this player does not step up.

Every team game works this way, but one of the skills you will learn from these experiences, is how to handle a team that sometimes, because of pride, or divergent opinions, often work against their own common good. You'll straight up learn management skills by playing video games. And if you can't do that, you can just try to do your best on your own, but just know that you will just end up feeling frustrated, a 5 man's job is indeed, a 5 man's job. It sure is not fair, but life isn't always fair, and you'll probably face those tilted guys the next game, it's all about karma and luck in the end, so don't take it too personally, and if you do, then I guess you need to learn to control yourself, because you'll end up getting yourself banned.

Some players react pretty poorly to having someone not playing well enough on their team, and tend to flame and act in a toxic way. Some players playing poorly will reject the blame on other players.
A toxic situation can escalate pretty quickly, and end up in racist insults, or pretty agressive statements.

Yet, some people argue that you should be able to say whatever you want since everything is happening in a video game, because a mute button exists, and no physical harm can actually be done.
So what's going on with the bans then, why are people getting banned from a video game for insults? What gives Riot Games the authority to decide what players can and cannot say? Here's the core of the debate.

Well the answer is pretty simple :

When you start the game, you agree to a summoner code, that follows most of real lifes social conventions. Be a decent human being, no matter what happens. If someone pisses you off in real life, dont threaten to slit their throat, or you will probably be jailed. Riot set up a set of rules that you agreed to when you signed in, you are expected to respect them, and it shouldn't be that hard, just take deep breaths and take breaks between tilting games, you got this.
